PASSER Marine receive DNVGL AIP for Bonded Insulation System for IMO Type B tank

On February 19 – 2021, DNV-GL have issued Approval In Principle certificate for bonded insulation system for IMO type B tank to PASSER Marine. The AIP covers the solution with secondary barrier and insulation system for prismatic type B tank (IGC & IGF code).

This is a major milestone for PASSER Marine & PASSER Lanyu for the ongoing development of our B Tank insulation system. Our R & D will continue with the overall goal to receive a full GASA certification. Our spray foam insulation system is specifically intended for use on IMO type B LNG fuel and cargo tanks.

The insulation system is based on traditional Polyurethane spray foam application with proven records from IMO type C LNG tanks, but has been developed to comply with specific requirements for type B tanks. In short – this means that although mainly bonded to the tank skin, the insulation will act as a partial secondary barrier with provisions for leak monitoring and handling.
