PASSER baskets are engineered for cable manufacturers, spool bases, transport vessels and equipment rental fleets across Europe and Asia.
Both standard and collapsible designs can connect to the PASSER Basket Drive System, giving you spooling capability across multiple baskets using a single mobile drive unit.

A hinged design that folds and unfolds for transport and operation. Engineered for cost efficient road transport to sites inland.
When Baskets Are the Right Choice Over Carousels
A traditional carousel includes integrated drive machinery at every storage position. That makes sense when you need spooling capability at every basket, but it adds capital cost, floor space and power infrastructure you may not need.
Baskets work differently. The basket itself is a passive steel structure that holds the cable. Drive capability is added either through the optional Basket Drive System interface, or omitted entirely for storage-only positions. The result is lower cost per storage position, faster delivery times, and a system you can expand one basket at a time.
For cable manufacturers building out new facilities, equipment rental fleets serving multiple projects, and offshore contractors preparing for installation campaigns, baskets are often the more practical choice.
Standard Baskets

Assembled on site within days
The basket recently delivered to TKF was assembled within a single day, with the main deck arriving as a preassembled foldable unit, modular stanchion walls, and preassembled wooden deck segments.

TKF
A liftable storage basket, delivered as three main components and assembled on site within one day. The basket forms part of the cable handling equipment at TKF's cable manufacturing plant in Eemshaven, Netherlands.
Boskalis
The basket awarded in October 2025 for delivery in June 2026. Designed for transport and spooling with self-propelled modular transporters, suitable for long-term storage of multiple cables in the same basket. Dimensions of 15.3 metres diameter by 4 metres high.
PASSER rental fleet
Baskets up to 2,500 tonnes are available through our cable equipment rental operation, supporting offshore campaigns where ownership doesn't make commercial sense.
